Mantrac designed a system comprising 16 Cat® gensets, supported by the best, globally-sourced infrastructure, which ultimately helped reduce oil transport time by 50%.
Energy savings by using crude oil as a fuel source
increase in operational efficiency
Shorter turnaround time for oil transport
Tazama Pipelines' seven pumping stations needed new equipment. Each station required four pumping units, configured for maximum fuel efficiency. The control room needed to be upgraded for accurate monitoring and actionable data over the entire pipeline to boost overall crude oil flow from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. Mantrac delivered the entire power ecosystem in just 24 months, sourcing the most superior parts and systems from 6 different countries.
It involved 16 Cat 3508 engines and spare parts from the USA, 16 Voith gearboxes and flexible coupling from Germany, 16 Monskid and control panels from Egypt, four fuel separators from Poland, 16 remote radiators from UK, and a new shed partially assembled in Antwerp. The result was 30% savings and increased profitability from a 50% shorter turnaround for oil transport.
