The goal? Safely home. Everyone. Every day.
On 30th June 2024, Mantrac Uganda achieved an impressive milestone of 500,000 manhours with ZERO Lost Time Injuries (LTIs). This achievement is a collaboration of hard work, dedication, safety discipline and embracing a positive safety culture where everyone is involved - taking ownership of actions while executing daily functions.
Damiano Kato Kazibwe, Health and Safety Officer, said: “We remain focused on the bigger picture of ZERO Harm as highlighted in Mantrac Group HSE Strategy. Therefore, we take pride in taking this journey one day at a time, one safe act after another.”
This milestone was celebrated during the Town Hall, where Managing Director Ahmed Saad gave a brief on what this achievement means and what is needed to continue with such milestones. Ms. Charity Karukundo, Human Resources Manager, led the award session where Kharim Wegulo, Service Engineer and Gordon Buyube, Service Technician and Team Leader were rewarded for their exemplary work and always ensuring that work is executed safely.
As a Business Unit, Mantrac Uganda is continuously involved in several initiatives and activities that are shaping and driving a positive safety culture. Some examples of activities performed in June 2024 leading to this milestone achievement are:
-
Hazard Spot Challenge - The objective was to enhance employees’ ability to identify unsafe acts and conditions in a workplace. Staff participated in four groups and the best group was rewarded.
-
First Aid Refresher Training - Twelve staff underwent both theoretical and practical sessions. Staff also underwent demonstration exercises on how to use the Automatic External Defibrillator.
The journey is not over, we remain committed to ensure that our staff in the different workstations (Mantrac offices and customer sites) are safe, and upholding a positive safety culture.
The goal is: Safely home. Everyone. Every day.
